INPIRED BY THEIR PEERS, ORIGINAL CHARACTER "DUNA" WAS CREATED DURING THE 2020 PANDEMIC TO EXPERIMENT THE WORLD OF ONLINE PERSONAIFICATION AND SELF-BRANDING (AKA. VTUBING).COMING 2022, "DUNA" SOON BECAME AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE ARTIST TO OVERCOME THEIR SOCIAL OBSTACLES ONLINE.

Rebecca "Beck" Yang
based in toronto, canada, Beck has been creating characters at a young age with a motive for storytelling and expressing self. inspired by their cultural upbringings surrounding '90s-era Korean manhwa, they've adopted a Western animation style with love for their dynamic-action compositions.beck continues to create personas from their imagination - vessels that boldly state confidence, uniqueness, and individuality. many of these, which resonate with the artist's personal character developments and experience growing into fashion and online culture.
identifying as non-binary (any pronouns), they also love exploring further into genderless fashion - a trend that is about rising above binary gender norms in clothes.in spring of 2023, they graduated from OCADU UNIVERSITY WITH A BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS IN SCULPTURE/INSTALLATION (HONORS).
However, they've decided to pursue their passion for digital illustrations once learning the principles of form/structure through 3-d art.
DUNA DEVILISH, "THE HYBRID-DEMON"
"DUNA" (ORIGIN NAME MEANING "DARK MYSTERIOUS SPIRIT") WAS A CHARACTER CREATED IN THE SUMMER OF 2020, WHO HAS CONTINUED TO CARRY PART OF THE ARTIST'S LIFE EXPERIENCES - FOR OTHERS AS WELL.INITIALLY WHEN THE ARTIST WAS STRUGGLING TO EXPRESS THEIR PERSONALITY ONLINE WITH THEIR FRIENDS,
THEY WANTED TO CREATE SOMEONE WHO COULD REPRESENT THEIR punk-comical NATURE AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE, WITHOUT HAVING TOO MANY SIMILARITIES TO THEIR PHYSICAL APPEARANCES IN REALITY. ADDITIONALLY, "DUNA's" online presence was used TO help OVERCOME THE ARTIST'S SOCIAL ANXIETY when conversing with new faces in small/large social groups.THEIR FIRST APPEARANCE WAS LIVE ON TWITCH, USED AS A PLACEHOLDER AVATAR FOR THE ARTIST, AS THEY WERE BROADCASTING THEIR WORK IN PROCESS FOR THEIR DIGITAL ILLUSTRATIONS."duna" WAS DESIGNED TO BE BOLD (RED HAIR, WHITE FRINGE) AND HAVE A PLAYFUL YET "EDGY" LOOK; ADDITIONAL FEATURES SUCH AS A WOLF TAIL AND SILVER ACCENTS/ACCESSORIES.
their "last name" was given as an oxymoron; the character solely appears intimidating but has a delicate heart.ADDITIONALLY!!
"DUNA" CAN'T BE COMPLETED WITHOUT THEIR BREAD-COMPANION, "WHEATLEY".
tHEY WERE INCORPERATED INTO THE JOURNEY AS THE ARTIST HAS A HIGH-CRAVING FOR PASTERIES!
